The Kiln is founded out of a passion to develop engaging and creative video for brands and people of all shapes and sizes. Our creative approach is inspired by fashion, movement and lifestyle. We believe that every person or brand has a unique story to share. Located in Ottawa, Ontario but working both locally and globally for brands, we look forward to working with you wherever you are.
Founders Sophie and Evan
The Kiln was founded by husband and wife duo, Sophie and Evan George, who have a passion for the moving image and storytelling, offering expertise in different areas of video production.
Originally from Australia, Evan is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker now bringing over 10 years of experience to Canada. Starting his career in national sports broadcast television working with Fox Sports and Optus Sport, he has shot many live broadcasts, documentaries, profile pieces and opener and closer promos for TV Shows. A particular highlight shooting pitch-side for much of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. After leaving Sports and delving into the commercial world with The Kiln, Evan has gone on to shoot creative branded content and commercial video projects for major national and international brands and media agencies including BBC Storyworks, Nivea, The Canadian Military, Vice and more. He’s done it all from fashion to football and everything in between! Achievements include a Sony World Photograph National Award 1st place, Nominations for best broadcast profile by Sport Australia and Golden Sheaf Award for documentary ‘Breathless’ among other accolades.
Sophie is a talented director and producer that has partnered Evan on many video and photography projects over the past few years. She is an Ottawa native with a detail oriented mindset and learned creative eye, as well as an undeniable drive to get projects moving forward quickly and efficiently.
Pierre-Luc
P-L is an Acadian filmmaker, mountain biker and outdoor enthusiast. He mainly works as a Director of Photography on commercials and documentaries. He has worked across Canada on various projects including HBO TV series, RedBull TV event, SuperBowl featured commercials and Film Festival Award winning outdoor documentaries. His background, culture, bilinguism and ability to adapt makes him a valuable Swiss army knife in the creative world. His genuine love for the craft and his personality is a true asset for any production.
Crew
Sophie and Evan are the leads on every project and will tailor any crew, locations, casting and production equipment to meet the needs of each individual project.
